HONEYMOON IN THE OWNER'S SUITE!

My MR and I have enjoyed going on cruises together. We like that the boat is constantly moving, the scenery is ever changing, and there is just something so peaceful about being out on the open sea.

In the past we have travelled with Carnival Cruise Lines and have had excellent experiences. We typically book a standard suite with a balcony on as high of a deck as we can find. We love being able to step outside when we arrive in the ports and look out in the islands or sitting on the balcony in the evenings as we head back out to sea and watching the twinkling of the islands lights at dusk.

For our honeymoon we decided to kick it up a notch and booked the Owner's Suite on the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas. It was really important to us to leave the Sunday morning after the wedding and it was one of the few ships setting sail on a Sunday.

We are super excited about the room! The balcony is three times larger than the regular balcony and has room for two loungers and a four person table. One of the features of the Owner's Suite that I am looking forward to is that they will bring any of the full dinner menu items from the restaurants to your room. Now, MR and I enjoy going to dinner when we cruise, but I am so excited to sit on our balcony and have dinner one night as we leave port.

We are 18 days away and I will be sue to upload some video and share the experience when we return!

Long Time, No Post

Rodan and Fields has become so much more of an adventure I ever imagined!

Since starting my business, my sales have taken off and my team is growing! It has been so much fun but more importantly it has taught me so much about myself and what I am capable of. It has absolutely required me to step out of my comfort zone but it has also been so incredibly rewarding.

The Ceremony: Wightman Chapel

I had planned the perfect day; it was easy, convenient and logistically flawless. Until we realized that our guest list was out growing our venue. Our space could hold up to 125 for the ceremony and 200 for the reception. Because we had hoped to have both the ceremony and reception in the same location we were limited to 125. We finally came to terms with the fact that we would need to find a new ceremony location and set out on a search. Well, as it happened, my future MIL was on it! She was an event planner for the Tennessee Trail Lawyers and knows all the good spots and how to find the right people to talk to. She was able to learn that one of Nashville's prime wedding ceremony locations was amazingly available ON OUR DATE due to another couple cancelling. So I can now say we have booked the insanely beautiful Wightman Chapel at Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville. Originally a center for missionaries and teachers it has now been transformed into a non-denominational campus for spiritual retreat and hosted Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1957.

Cruise Packing 101

It's that time! Embarkation is days away and I am ready to set sail! Well, mentally ready to sail. Unfortunately my suitcase does not reflect my enthusiasm. As a novice cruiser I will continue to tweak my packing strategy while getting the most bang for my buck. Oe lesson I learned on my first voyage was not to over pack, so I will fight my girly tendencies and make some hard decisions on what to leave at home.

Here is my packing plan:

Daytime:
2-3 bathing suits
Coverups: typically a long tank top, cotton shorts, or loose pullover dress
Flip Flops

Dinner:
Maxi Dresses are my nighttime staple. Easy to get into. Comfortable. Appropriate for al dining and evening activities on a ship. I typically wear flats instead of heels. Last time I brought heels and NEVER wore them.

Toiletries:
Shampoo/Conditioner
Razors
Body Wash
Body Lotion
Deodorant
Facial Sunscreen
Oil absorbing face papers
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Hairdryer (cruise line permitting)

Medications:
Dramamine
Benadryl
Pain Controller
Tums
Pepto
Allegra
(I may seem crazy but you never know how you will react to something or catch a bug. In that case, trust me, you will want to be prepared.)

                                                    Excursions:
Of course you have to keep in mind what you are doing, but for a typical day getting off the ship and walking around the shops I take:
Khaki shorts of a reasonable length (No shorty shorts. Just my preference.)
Light shirts/tanks
Sunglasses
Cross-body purse (small)
Sun-dresses

Call Me Late to the Game...

But flank steak has become a new staple in the MR house. It is inexpensive, easy, and quick! I have playing with different marinades, and I'm sure there will be more than a few upturned noses, but I am loving taco seasoning. I marinate overnight, toss on the skillet, and voila- deelish. Served up with some sautéed veggies, and we're in heaven. Flank steak is also fairly lean which we were thrilled to learn as we are trying to shed some lbs to be bathing suit ready for our New Years cruise. If flank teak isn't a regular in your repertoire, give it a shot! Play around with marinades but of course, a simple salt and pepper works perfectly!

MLM Success

I want to share this post about my teammate Megan! We are so proud of her! This from the Rodan + Fields Redefine Blog.

"Although Megan Denney never experienced the desire to stop working, the birth of her first daughter in 2009 left her feeling torn between her home life and her desire to succeed as a professional in the business world. Each time she drove to work, crying and upset that she was leaving her daughter, she would assure herself she was doing the right thing. “I knew I had to work because that was something I needed for me, but I’d always end up at home with my husband, crunching numbers to see if we could afford for me to stay home with the kids.”
She continued to feel conflicted. A year after she became a mother, she knew that her job as a fitness manager was not compatible with her family’s schedule. Despite her love for the job, she had to work some nights and weekends and her husband’s job had him traveling a lot, so Megan made the difficult decision to leave the fitness industry in 2010 and went back to school to get her teaching license in Education. Megan thought a work schedule that allowed for summers off would work better with her family’s life.

Megan is grateful that her business fulfills her personal and professional needs while also providing an outlet to pursue her passion for helping others.
She taught fourth grade and enjoyed her time in the classroom. However, when her husband’s job relocated their family and her second daughter was born in July of 2013, Megan chose to take a break from teaching. “I wanted to experience being a stay at home mom, at least for a while. I knew I would go back to work eventually because of our finances, but also because of my love for work.”
While she loved being home with her children, Megan didn’t like that she was no longer contributing to her family financially and decided she needed to find a way to generate supplemental income. She reached out to her friend Kelly to learn more about her Rodan + Fields® business. “She always spoke so highly of it, so I decided I should check it out for myself. Plus, I needed to take better care of my skin as I had recently developed pregnancy melasma.”
Megan was a bit skeptical at first. She had dabbled in direct selling after college and felt that it wasn’t for her. Yet, when she saw how the R+F business model was different than other direct selling companies, she knew it was something she was capable of doing. “I saw other women who were just like me finding success with their businesses, and I thought, ‘If they can do it, why can’t I?’”

Megan enrolled as an Independent Consultant in September of 2013, one month after moving. Megan worried that it would be difficult to launch her business in a new place and assumed it would be a struggle to build a network and meet new people. “I think everything happens for a reason and having my business during that transition definitely helped me adjust to the new area. Instead of staying in with the baby and getting the house in order, I was eager to meet new friends and share my business. It pushed me to go out and make contacts.”
In the beginning, Megan didn’t fully see the potential of her business. But soon what began as a temporary way to generate additional income quickly became a way for Megan to have the best of both worlds. “I honestly thought that I would give up my R+F business when I went back to teaching because I didn’t think I would have the time to do both. I can laugh about that now that I’ve seen where this has taken me.”
Originally, Megan’s plan was to take a year off teaching, but by working 15 to 20 hours a week she reached Level V after just 10 months of growing her business. At that point, she realized she had the option to stay home with her kids and still have the professional life she desired. “I get everything I ever desired from a professional perspective with R+F and I get to stay with my girls. It’s the perfect balance.”

Megan loves the free time she now has to have dance parties with her daughters and create special moments with them.
Megan grew up wanting to own her own business and R+F enabled her to do so. She was surprised to discover how perfectly her business addressed her professional desires. Team building and personal growth had always been important components of Megan’s previous careers. “What I loved about fitness training and teaching was motivating others to do their best and encouraging them to reach their goals. I have always needed that in my career, and I have found all of that with my business.”
In addition, the time freedom she has gained allows her to take a step back and reflect on who she wants to be and lets her concentrate her efforts on doing more for others. Megan enjoys leading by example and prides herself on being the type of friend and team member that others can depend on. “It’s about the bigger picture. Teamwork means a lot to me because, when we work together, we are not only helping our own business, but we are developing each other’s businesses as well. I love that my team consists of women who are aged 18 to 62 and we all come from different backgrounds and have different goals, but we share the same mission to use our business to help others achieve great skin and financial dreams. We share what’s in our hearts, and that is what it’s all about: helping others.”
Her business has given Megan a new outlook on life. “I wake up every day excited to share this opportunity. I had no idea that my business could change my life. I get to help others succeed, and that gives me personal gratification, on top of the fact that I get to be with my girls all day. That’s all I need in life. That’s what I strived for in my other endeavors, but this is what I was looking for all along.”

Working with a team and motivating others are some of Megan’s favorite parts of her business.
Megan feels blessed that she was able to see the Company vision and to act on it so that now she can use her skills to help improve others’ lives. “There is never a stopping point. There is always more you can do and more you can give. That inspires me to keep going because I know I have a gift, and if I don’t push myself and continue to share, others may not find the help they need.”
Her experience has also shown Megan the importance of being transparent. “If you don’t understand something, ask. If you have a fear, share. There are others willing to help, and you can’t just give up because the answer may be around the corner.”
Now that Megan has found the perfect fit for her life with her R+F business, her goal is to reach out to as many people as she can and help them attain the balance, growth, and success that she has found. “Time and a busy schedule have a way of putting us on autopilot and when we’re in that mode, we forget the value of life, but this opportunity provides a way to set your own gear. It encourages you to stop, refocus, and discover your true calling. And, in doing that, I found the way to maintain the important aspects of my personal and professional life and enjoy the best of both worlds.”
