Why You'll Fail at Direct Sales

The business of MLM is perhaps one of the easiest and most challenging ways to secure residual income, and I think this is what makes is so hard for people to accept. It just doesn't make sense. If you are telling me that this is so EASY then why is it so HARD? Why isn't every person who signs on with an MLM relaxing on a yacht right now? Why do only 1% of MLM'ers see the wealth beyond their wildest dreams that we were all promised? MLM is not a guaranteed one way ticket to the good life; but it has the potential to be. Here are some of the biggest hurdles and causes of failure for many MLM'ers.

1. Lack of Leadership.

In network marketing you may sign up under a mentor that is available to you to answer questions, provide guidance, and lift you up to walk down the path of success with them. Wouldn't that be great! Or you may sign up, purchase your business, only to find that they have entered the witness protection program. They can't be reached, they don't guide and motivate their team, and they certainly don't guide you down the road to success. This is a huge disservice to both parties involved.

Before you sign up, ask your potential upline what they do to help their downline succeed and even talk to others that are on their teams Try to get a good feel for the groups activity level. Are you going to be floating out there on your own or will you have a supportive infrastructure to keep you motivated.

This goes for recruiters as well as the newbies. If you sign someone up to your downline and then leave them out in the cold to fend for themselves, they will likely not help you build your business.

Abandonment is a bad practice and is gives a bad name to our business. Just don't do it.

2. Failure to Take Action Daily

If you only went to your regular job once a week, do you think you would be the top earner? Of course not. The same holds true for MLM. You cannot take sporadic actions and expect to see consistent rewards. It just does not work that way. You actually have to work the business. Future business partners and customers want to see that you are committed, happy, and successful. Once they see consistency on your part you will start to establish trust from your potential consumers and business partners and they will be ready and excited to convert.

3. No Clear Goals and Objectives

It's great to know where you would like to go but you don't get very far if you don't know how to get there. You need a road map. I make a weekly action plan every Sunday night with clear objectives for what I am going to do to grow my business. I take notes on what I did to complete them and how I might improve upon my actions in the future.

4. Lack of Training

"Here, watch this video." And, congratulations. You're officially trained.

But that's not how it should go. Discuss your products and educate your team.

If your immediate upline won't train you, find someone who will.

5. Procrastination

This is why I write my action list for the week on Monday night. When I go to my home office on Monday morning I have my work assignment waiting for me and I know what I am supposed to be focusing on.

Often times procrastination is fueled by fears of rejection. YOU WILL BE TOLD NO. But you will also be told yes. Take a sheet of paper and number it 1-100. Title it 100 No's. Take that sheet with you and every time you are told no, check off a line. Each of those no's is getting you closer to a yes.

Some people procrastinate because they don't truly believe in what they are doing. Well, I've got news for you: If you don't believe in what you are doing, or at least do a pretty good job pretending like you do, no one else will believe you either.

Go ahead, drink the Kool-Aid.

The truth is, MLM is a legitimate and viable business model that works incredibly well when people put in hard work, take daily actions, and remain committed. It is not going to turn you into an overnight jet-setter. But the high failure rate, due to lack of leadership, fear, procrastination, and laziness give the business model a bad name and builds an even bigger hurdle to overcome for those trying to grow their businesses.

Apples, they realized have tyrosinase. Tyrosi-what? TYROSINASE; the rate limiting enzyme for controlling the production of melanin. Melanin is the primary determinant of skin color. By controlling the oxidation of tyrosinase, the doctors found that they could prevent and reverse areas of hyperpigmentation.

Is there a goal you wish you had started working on a year ago? For almost THREE YEARS I knew my friend Lauren was building a Rodan + Fields business; so I watched... and I watched. And then I saw Megan start her business; so I watched... and I watched. And then I saw Lauren earn her LEXUS! So I watched a little closer  How I wish I had taken advantage of working with Rodan + Fields when I first saw the opportunity! I am so glad that I am now growing with an amazing group of women that refuse to sit on the side lines and be told what they are capable of achieving, or earning- or that they can't have a great career and spend time with their family! Why I Chose Network Marketing

It's a 2-5 year business, they say.

Residual income, they say,

Beach money, they say.

Lifestyle marketing, they say.

Well, I'm here to give it a chance.

In 2013 I found it incredibly difficult to find a job in my profession as a respiratory therapist because I had chosen to stay in Indiana after working a travel contract at the children's hospital and was limited by non-compete clauses upon completion of my assignment. My options at the time were to go to Seattle to work another contract or to stay in Indy to see if my new best friend just might end up being the love of my life.

I chose to stay in Indy and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. The best decision was probably to leave Washington, DC for the travel assignment in the first place. But the decision to stay in Indy wasn't made lightly and it certainly didn't come without its share of challenges, like finding a job that didn't have a non-compete clause with my travel agency.

That also isn't to say that the hardships didn't have their silver linings. I was able to knock out some nursing classes and I was able to spend a month with my family in North Carolina after my father passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving morning.

Most recently we have moved to Denver so that Michael can finish his last year (YAY!) of medical training.  Once again, I found it difficult to find a position at the children's hospital. I even looked for jobs at the adult hospitals, YIKES! But, I just kept getting the same response; GREAT resume, not hiring.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands. Tired of seeing MR carrying the weight of our household as he worked so hard to provide and complete a challenging year of training I had an "aha" moment.

If I can't find a job, I'll make one.

So here I am. This is my journey into network marketing.
