MLM Success

I want to share this post about my teammate Megan! We are so proud of her! This from the Rodan + Fields Redefine Blog.

"Although Megan Denney never experienced the desire to stop working, the birth of her first daughter in 2009 left her feeling torn between her home life and her desire to succeed as a professional in the business world. Each time she drove to work, crying and upset that she was leaving her daughter, she would assure herself she was doing the right thing. “I knew I had to work because that was something I needed for me, but I’d always end up at home with my husband, crunching numbers to see if we could afford for me to stay home with the kids.”
She continued to feel conflicted. A year after she became a mother, she knew that her job as a fitness manager was not compatible with her family’s schedule. Despite her love for the job, she had to work some nights and weekends and her husband’s job had him traveling a lot, so Megan made the difficult decision to leave the fitness industry in 2010 and went back to school to get her teaching license in Education. Megan thought a work schedule that allowed for summers off would work better with her family’s life.

Megan is grateful that her business fulfills her personal and professional needs while also providing an outlet to pursue her passion for helping others.
She taught fourth grade and enjoyed her time in the classroom. However, when her husband’s job relocated their family and her second daughter was born in July of 2013, Megan chose to take a break from teaching. “I wanted to experience being a stay at home mom, at least for a while. I knew I would go back to work eventually because of our finances, but also because of my love for work.”
While she loved being home with her children, Megan didn’t like that she was no longer contributing to her family financially and decided she needed to find a way to generate supplemental income. She reached out to her friend Kelly to learn more about her Rodan + Fields® business. “She always spoke so highly of it, so I decided I should check it out for myself. Plus, I needed to take better care of my skin as I had recently developed pregnancy melasma.”
Megan was a bit skeptical at first. She had dabbled in direct selling after college and felt that it wasn’t for her. Yet, when she saw how the R+F business model was different than other direct selling companies, she knew it was something she was capable of doing. “I saw other women who were just like me finding success with their businesses, and I thought, ‘If they can do it, why can’t I?’”

Megan enrolled as an Independent Consultant in September of 2013, one month after moving. Megan worried that it would be difficult to launch her business in a new place and assumed it would be a struggle to build a network and meet new people. “I think everything happens for a reason and having my business during that transition definitely helped me adjust to the new area. Instead of staying in with the baby and getting the house in order, I was eager to meet new friends and share my business. It pushed me to go out and make contacts.”
In the beginning, Megan didn’t fully see the potential of her business. But soon what began as a temporary way to generate additional income quickly became a way for Megan to have the best of both worlds. “I honestly thought that I would give up my R+F business when I went back to teaching because I didn’t think I would have the time to do both. I can laugh about that now that I’ve seen where this has taken me.”
Originally, Megan’s plan was to take a year off teaching, but by working 15 to 20 hours a week she reached Level V after just 10 months of growing her business. At that point, she realized she had the option to stay home with her kids and still have the professional life she desired. “I get everything I ever desired from a professional perspective with R+F and I get to stay with my girls. It’s the perfect balance.”

Megan loves the free time she now has to have dance parties with her daughters and create special moments with them.
Megan grew up wanting to own her own business and R+F enabled her to do so. She was surprised to discover how perfectly her business addressed her professional desires. Team building and personal growth had always been important components of Megan’s previous careers. “What I loved about fitness training and teaching was motivating others to do their best and encouraging them to reach their goals. I have always needed that in my career, and I have found all of that with my business.”
In addition, the time freedom she has gained allows her to take a step back and reflect on who she wants to be and lets her concentrate her efforts on doing more for others. Megan enjoys leading by example and prides herself on being the type of friend and team member that others can depend on. “It’s about the bigger picture. Teamwork means a lot to me because, when we work together, we are not only helping our own business, but we are developing each other’s businesses as well. I love that my team consists of women who are aged 18 to 62 and we all come from different backgrounds and have different goals, but we share the same mission to use our business to help others achieve great skin and financial dreams. We share what’s in our hearts, and that is what it’s all about: helping others.”
Her business has given Megan a new outlook on life. “I wake up every day excited to share this opportunity. I had no idea that my business could change my life. I get to help others succeed, and that gives me personal gratification, on top of the fact that I get to be with my girls all day. That’s all I need in life. That’s what I strived for in my other endeavors, but this is what I was looking for all along.”

Working with a team and motivating others are some of Megan’s favorite parts of her business.
Megan feels blessed that she was able to see the Company vision and to act on it so that now she can use her skills to help improve others’ lives. “There is never a stopping point. There is always more you can do and more you can give. That inspires me to keep going because I know I have a gift, and if I don’t push myself and continue to share, others may not find the help they need.”
Her experience has also shown Megan the importance of being transparent. “If you don’t understand something, ask. If you have a fear, share. There are others willing to help, and you can’t just give up because the answer may be around the corner.”
Now that Megan has found the perfect fit for her life with her R+F business, her goal is to reach out to as many people as she can and help them attain the balance, growth, and success that she has found. “Time and a busy schedule have a way of putting us on autopilot and when we’re in that mode, we forget the value of life, but this opportunity provides a way to set your own gear. It encourages you to stop, refocus, and discover your true calling. And, in doing that, I found the way to maintain the important aspects of my personal and professional life and enjoy the best of both worlds.”
