Two Chaise

Upon our recent move to Colorado, MR and I expanded our space from a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment, adding about 500 square feet. We were soon faced with the decision of what to do with our second bedroom. MR wanted desk space that was specifically his {not cluttered with my pen and highlighter collection}, I wanted a space to cozy up and enjoy a cup of coffee and a book, and we both wanted to be able to offer guests a place to stay should anyone visit.

After much deliberation and discussion of our options, we found a great solution while passing a store window of Room and Board in Chicago. They had taken two chaise lounges and secured them together. Genius!

MR is still in school and I had yet to secure employment in Colorado so went set off on a mission with a budget to furnish our guest room. Off to Ikea! There we found just what we were looking for. To keep with our goal of having a camping feel to the room we chose a rug with neutral cool colors. We took advantage of our high ceilings by getting extra long curtains. Instead of hanging them traditionally at the ends of the valences I spaced them evenly between the windows. We found a simple desk to put in the corner for MR and added a TV and stand. Excluding the TV we spent less than $1,000.00 on the room.
