Uninvited: Lost In The Mail

What do you do when you are not invited to a social event you thought you would be included in? If your first response is to make a snarky, passive aggressive remark to the host, think again. That's just makes for two pigs covered in mud!* One should never confront the offender and ask for an invite.

It is never ok to ask to be invited to an event. It is hurtful to be excluded, and you may never know why you were not included, but it's a matter best left to let lie. One must wait until the event has passed {I suppose you could do this before the event but should the conversation result in an invite, you might not actually want to go at that point}, and find a private and respectful way to say the the host, "I was aware of your party and my feelings were hurt to not be included because I believed us to be friends." It is not polite to ask for an explanation.

* The saying is actually. "I learned long ago never to wrestle with a pig, You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it!" by George Bernard Shaw. A botched version of the saying goes something to the effect of, "Don't argue with a pig, then you just have two pigs covered in mud!" by MR. Either way, you understand the moral.
