How High Should A Light Fixture Hang Above A Table?

The magic number seems to fall somewhere in the 32-34 inches above the table range. With the height of most tables (but certainly not all) this means it will hang at about 6'. Light fixtures in a room with standard height ceilings  should hang about 7' off the floor but when you are dealing with higher ceilings the fixture should hang 5' from the ceilings.
